About 20 years ago, if a medical imaging professional wanted to consult with another professional 50 miles away, they had to make a copy of the image, mail it off, wait for it to arrive, and then schedule a time to discuss the image. Today, with the modern hardware and software, the same medical imaging professionals can be brought together to review and discuss images within minutes. Like everything else in the world, radiography will continue to evolve with the times.
Changes Seen in Radiography over the Past Year
It is no secret – radiography has evolved over the years for the best. With the capability to reduce the exposure of radiation to patients while increasing the diagnostic proficiency has astounding implications. Also, the reduction of the use of harsh chemicals and other waste materials associated with traditional radiography benefits our environment. Radiology continues to play an important role in the future of medicine.
New Technology that We Anticipate Seeing
A new ultrasound device that produces sharper images through 3D printed lenses. With clearer images, doctors and surgeons can have greater control and precision when performing non-invasive diagnostic procedures and medical surgeries.
The new device will allow for more accurate medical procedures that involve the use of ultrasound to kill tumors, loosen blood clots and deliver drugs into targeted cells. With 3D printing, complex lens shapes can be made which results in sharper images. The 3D printed lenses allow ultrasound waves to be focused at multiple sites or shape the focus specially to a target, which current ultrasound machines are unable to do.
One recent edition to our product library is the new EXA PACS system. This advanced imagining system uses a Zero Foot Print Server Side Rendering for image viewing. This is a faster and cleaner delivery of images for radiologists. EXA is the only one with a True Diagnostic viewer on SSR.
Check out this video that talks about the new EXA PACS system and why it is important for medical imaging to evolve at the same rate as technology.
